IX Style was founded by siblings Francesca and John Kennedy, whose family is originally from Guatemala.  They were always motivated by the poverty, violence, lack of opportunities for eduction and the alarming need for clean water in Guatemala.

On a flight to visit her grandfather in Panajachel, Guatemala, Francesca read "Start Something That Matters" by TOMS founder Blake Mycosie.  During that trip, Francesca saw children drinking toxic water in Lake Atitlan.  She knew she had to do something to help.  Inspired by gorgeous, hand-woven Mayan textiles and leather craftsmanship, IX Style was created.

C&C: Are there any specific styling tips you have, such as 
by-the-water do’s and don’ts? What would be some 
examples of ideal ways to style Drifting Arrows pieces poolside?

I always cringe when I see someone wearing shoes and socks at the beach, 
so that’s a big no.  Also, your swimwear should be comfortable and make 
you feel great….not the opposite – make sure you can move around at ease 
in your suit, and own your figure – no slouching!   Do wear sunglasses to 
keep your eyes protected and looking sharp, and always keep a hair-band 
in your beach bag so you don’t end up with a funny tan line. I suggest a 
top knot or a loose pony tail to complete the beachy look.

A great wide-brimmed hat is a pool-side essential, whether it be a structured 
panama or floppy-brimmed version.  They are practical (sun-burned faces 
are not fun or cute), allowing you to read or rest without all the squinting 
and over-exposure….and they look striking.  Drifting Arrows pieces are 
classic and simple in their palettes, so don’t be afraid to pair with some 
statement sunnies and a stylish sun hat.  

New Arrivals: Here Knitwear

Owner, Chloe Zola refers to her line "here." as consciously crafted. She works within the town where she lives with her family in Central Mexico.  They buy the cotton from a factory 2 hours from their house and the wool from one only ten minutes away.  Chloe personally knows the women who are bringing her designs to life. Often times the families in this town have to send their children off to work in different cities or countries at age 14 or 15, which she hopes to offset in a small way with consistent and additional income for their families.  There is a very strong awareness for the importance of stimulating her local economy and an undeniable consciousness to the way that each piece comes to life.  There are extremely comfortable and versatile pieces that you can feel really good about!

Last Night's Madewell Event
